The Gold Coast residential district begins where the renowned “Magnificent Mile” ends and is home to many of Chicago’s wealthiest city dwellers. Most of the neighborhood’s residents live in high rise buildings along Lake Shore Drive, just opposite Lake Michigan. However, there are also many historic brownstones, greystones, mid-rises, and city mansions.
Close proximity to Chicago’s best shopping, restaurants, and beaches means you’ll pay a premium to claim a piece of the convenience and glitz for yourself. But that’s not to say there aren’t a huge variety of options for an equally broad range of housing budgets. You might be surprised at how affordable it can be — just don’t expect a premium view of Lake Michigan or Lincoln Park!
